Use the Period Descriptions Entry program to create and maintain the company period description records.
This record is entered when initially setting up the system and thereafter is maintained by the system. It determines the company's fiscal periods and their descriptions. Enter the description for each defined period.
Access this program by choosing General Ledger-->File Maintenances--> Infrequent File Maintenances-->Period Descriptions Entry.
1. Period
Enter the current period for this company. Press Enter (CR) to initially default to the first period of the current year.
2. Description
Enter the string of 3-character period descriptions that are to be displayed on screens throughout the system beginning with the first month of the fiscal year. The total number of characters entered must equal 3 x the number of periods per year. The description chosen is user-defined. Press Enter to initially default to the first three letters of each month for a 12-period year (JANFEBMAR...).
The remaining periods and dates are then calculated and displayed.
