Entering replenishment parameters: Seasonal Trending

  1. Access Replenishment Parameter Maintenance. The complete path is Inventory Control>File Maintenances>Replenishment Parameter Maintenance.
  2. Specify the defining parameters for the item: You can enter a warehouse, from warehouse vendor, purchasing line and/or item combination. Note: The scope for an item ideally should be least to most specific. When possible, parameters should be set according to the hierarchy: Company, Warehouse, Vendor, Purchasing Line, Item, Warehouse / Item and avoid specific items settings.
  3. In the Show drop down, specify Summary to view all of the effective parameters entered for the parameters set in the system and Detail to display overrides for only those parameter options that can be defined for the warehouse, from warehouse, vendor, purchasing line and/or item combination entered in step 2.
  4. In the Parameter Options Line browser, select the Replenishment Parameter “Trending Parameters and Adjusters”.
  5. Select Edit.
  6. (Optional) To modify the scope of the item’s parameter, select Change Scope and specify Warehouse, Vendor, Purchasing Line, Item or Whse/Item as appropriate and select Apply.  Note: The settings for this parameter can be defined at any level in the replenishment parameter hierarchy.  When the system asks if you want to change to a more specific scope, click Yes.
  7. Select the Apply seasonal trend minimum and maximum checkbox to indicate a seasonal trend item will have a minimum / maximum usage applied.
  8. In the Minimum Usage field specify the minimum usage “floor” to apply when calculating seasonal usage.
  9. In the Maximum Usage field specify the maximum usage “ceiling” to apply when calculating seasonal usage.
  10. In the Expiration Date field specify the expiration date for the min/max of seasonal trending to be applied.
  11. (Optional) In the Prior Year Hits field specify the number of hits required in the prior year of trend for min/max to be applicable. (This is an optional value.)
  12. (Optional) In the Current Year Hits field specify the number of hits required in the current year of trend for min/max to be applicable. (This is an optional value.)
  13. (Optional) In the Memo field specify the optional short description about frozen lead time for display and reporting purposes.
  14. (Optional) You can specify additional replenishment parameters as needed.
  15. Select Exit when you are done.
  16.
Note: If seasonal trending is applied to an item, the minimum and maximum usage can be enforced to eliminate excessive spike / trough values. This will result in a specific range for trending in order to “smooth” the trend curve. A required number of usage hits in the prior and current year can be entered and required in order for the minimum and maximum to be applied. If the current or prior year hits are not achieved when supplied, the minimum and maximum values will not be enforced.
