Using the Price Search feature

Use the price search program to find an item’s default price as well as alternate prices, which may include customer contract prices, pricing levels, quantity breaks and prices from past sales. The price search is available in Order Entry, Order Confirmation, Direct Invoice Entry, Credit Memo Entry, Counter Sale Entry and Service Order Entry.

Administrators can turn off the price search feature in the SO Entry Options F/M (on the Line Prompts tab).

Access the price search in one of these ways:

The Price Search window displays available pricing information for the selected item, quantity and customer, if a customer is selected. An asterisk denotes the default price for a select item and customer.

When you select a price for a line item, the system returns the pricing UM to line item price in Order Entry.

Search options

In the main search window, you have these options.

Item/Qty to view prices on another item. This option is available if you access Price Search from the View menu in one of the SO Order Management programs.

Whse Qtys to view item availability in the warehouse the selected item is set to ship from. If you do not have an order open, the system uses the default warehouse for this terminal. This option is disabled when you access Price Search from the Price field.

Contracts to view the Contract Entry (SOE560) program in view-only mode. The contract price details are available for the selected item and customer.

GM Entry to calculate a new price based on the GM percent you specify. To use this feature, first select a price in the browser. The gross margin percentage is based on the cost of the item selected and the price you selected. Change the GM % to create a new price. If you accessed Price Search from the Pricefield, choose OK to select the new price you created.

Change UM to see prices based on a different unit of measure.

To search on a price from the View menu:

1. ClickView>Price Search.

2. Select Item/Qty.

3. In the Item/Quantity window, choose the item and the quantity on which you want to find price information. Press F2 in the Item field to find an item.

4. Click OK to continue to the main Price Search window.

Factors affecting default pricing

Several factors are used to determine the default price factors, including:

Setting the Default Price control in SO Static Control F/M

Use this control to define which prices FACTS should default to when it is searching for prices. The default price displays in the price field once you select an item.

The price options are:

S-Standard

L-Level Pricing

Q-Quantity Breaks

C-Contract Price

X-Lowest Price

For example, if you want the system to default to contract prices when they exist, specify C first. If FACTS cannot find a contract price for the item and customer selected, it looks for the next price set.

Use default prices setting

The Use default prices prompt, defined in the Item F/M, is used for items that have multiple pricing units of measure that, when converted to the default pricing unit of measure, convert to the same price.

If this flag is set to Y, then you only have to set up prices for the default pricing UM. Pricing for other units of measure for the item may be calculated by the system.
