User Preferences F/M (SMF440)

Use this program to maintain user preferences for each user of the system. You can access this program by clicking Settings on the FACTS main menu. These settings are derived from User Code F/M and other FACTS programs that provide default information for FACTS companies, users, and locations. Each user can modify their own settings using this program.

Multiple user profiles

You can set up multiple profiles with different defaults for warehouse, printer, etc. Then, if you need to change from working in warehouse 01 to warehouse 02, you can change the active profile and all of the default values will change. You do not need to have multiple log-ins to get different default values. The active profile is displayed when you access this program.

Whenever the user changes their active profile, all of the global default variables will be reset. If no default warehouse, department or branch is set in the user’s active profile then they will be taken from the location record, if one is set up.

Settings drop-down list: On the FACTS Main menu, a drop-down list from your login with these relevant options:

• User Preferences: Displays User Preferences F/M.

• Change Active Profile: Displays a window prompting you to select a profile and reset the active profile to the new one and store it to the user code record.

• Profile Maintenance: Displays User Profile F/M where you can add, edit and delete profile records. Upon returning, the last profile that was edited will be compared to the active profile and if different, a message is displayed to indicate if the active profile should be changed to this one.

Using multiple monitors

The client's monitor configuration, including the number of monitors, their placement relative to each other, and their screen resolutions is detectable by FACTS processing. This configuration is used to calculate a unique configuration code that is used when saving and restoring the window locations. FACTS also records the monitor the window was last closed from.

If you change the monitor configuration in any way, it results in a new monitor configuration code, and a different set of saved screen locations. The saved screen locations from the prior monitor configuration will remain on file but will not be used unless the prior monitor configuration is restored.

Screen locations are normally saved uniquely for each FACTS user. In the Saving Screen Locations section of User Preferences F/M (SMF440), check the Use Terminal ID check box to use the terminal ID (i.e. FID(0)) instead of the user code when detecting the client’s monitor configuration. This allows a user to sign in as multiple users from a single terminal ID and get the same set of saved locations. Terminal IDs are assigned when the user connects to FACTS, and are typically defined by the environment variable, SSI_BASE.
