WINDOWS-NT New Installs: Copy the contents of the diskette into your FACTS home directory. Run the arc74.exe and it will create the necessary directories. (Note-When you run arc74.exe it will ask you which directory to extract the files to and defaults to c:\windows\temp. Change this to your facts home directory, ie. "ssi74" if you want it to automatically place these files in the correct locations.) WINDOWS-WIN2000 Upgrades: Copy the contents of the diskette into a temp directory. Run the arc73.exe. Copy the programs from the temp directory into your ...prog/AC directory. Copy the data files into data/AC directory. You will be prompted to setup Archive Control parameters during the installation. Have your DDS authorizaton information ready. Important Note: Don't use the same library directories on multiple company systems. IE Company 01 library 1 would reside in: ../ssi73/ac01/lib1. And so on for each company/library. The bottom line is that each company's archives must be in seperate directories. ARCHIVE DEMO MODE: If you wish to run Archive in demo mode for evaluation purposes, type in "ARCHIVE DEMO" as your authorization code. (Two words with a space and no quotes). You will be able to make up to five Archive files. Setup AC Control for company 01 and then manually enter control records for other companies. Run ACNSTALL only one time. If the installation is succesful then when you return to a menu Archive will be ready for use. 3. Supplemental instructions: WINDOWS-WIN2000 Upgrades From 6.6 and 6.7: Archive 7.4 utilizes long file names for the naming of Archive files. IE RC000099 will now be ARC000099. The installation program, "ACNSTALL" will perform this conversion on your system if it can find the library directories. Check the library setup in AC Control before running the upgrade. Be sure they are fully pathed. Also add any drive designators if your FACTS home directory is on a different drive from the Archive libraries. For new users the files: ACCNTL and ACINDX are in a PVX compatible format. For upgrades from level 6.6, these two files will need to be converted using the PVX conversion utility. For level 6.6 users of ARCHIVE: The merge files are no longer needed. APERUM has included our old "hooks" in the standard code. If you have ARCHIVE related problems with any SSI programs you can call DDS and we can determine how best to handle the situation. 4. Wordpad Setup - Uses a link file, "PWP" and driver "wordpad.arc". The driver is included. Here are the steps required to set up. A. On each client PC you will need to test for the location of the wordpad.exe file and be sure that it's directory is a part of the 'path' environment variable. For example: In XP Wordpad is in: "C:\Program Files\Windows NT\Accessories\wordpad.exe" Add this directory to the path environment variable by going to Start, Control Panel, Performance and Maintenance, System, Advanced, Environmental Variables. Or if you prfer move or copy the worpdad.exe file into a valid directory such as "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32" B. Create the link file PWP by using the PVX utilites. Answer the prompts as... Link Name: link/PWP File/Device: nul (Windows) or /dev/null (Unix) Type: Printer Terminal Aux. Port: NO Driver: WORDPAD.ARC C. We assume that the PVX directory resides under the FACTS home directory. If your PVX is somewhere else, you will need to move the Archive printer driver: "arc.printer" from the pvx/lib/_dev under your FACTS home directory to its proper place. Archive may run on other platforms or configurations, but has not been tested or designed to do so. If the SMFLUP update portion is not completed automatically then proceed manually by: 1.
