General Message Entry (OAE220)

How to

Use this program to enter, change or delete general messages.

To run this program, you must be set up in the Employee F/M program. You can view general messages in the Message Viewing/Disposition program.

The General Message Entry screen consists of two sections. The upper portion of the screen is called the header. This is where you enter the message number and employee, etc. The lower portion is called the line-item entry, where you can enter each line of the message.

The following fields are involved in entering general message header:

 

2. From Employee

The program automatically uses the employee code that belongs to the person entering the message. If the message you are entering a message for another employee, enter that person’s employee code. Press F2 or to search for employees. Press F3 or to search for messages.

3. Regarding

Enter the message’s general subject. This entry can be up to 30 characters long. Enter at least one character.

4. Reply Required

 Select the checkbox to designate that a reply is required. Enter (CR) defaults to not selected.

5. Message

Enter your message. Each line can be up to 70 characters long. The program automatically assigns the message line numbers.

6. Send to Employee/Group

Select to send the message to an Employee or Group of employees.  

7. Employee/Group

Enter employee code for individual or the group code for the employee group receiving the message. If the program does not accept the code, the user needs to be set up in Employee F/M or the user group needs to be set up in Group Code F/M (OAF960). Press F2 or to search.

 

In the browser in the lower portion of the screen, FACTS displays all of the Employee codes and names that have been selected to receive the message. You can select from the following:

Select the icon to stop adding employees or groups to receive the message.

Select the icon to add an employee or employee group.

Select the icon to delete the highlighted employee or employee group.

 

Press Done to end the General Message Entry program and Done again to exit.
